There was some more blavatnik news recently. Business insider magazine published its list of the richest people in the world and Len Blavatnik, the Ukraine born american investor was 42nd on the list with a reported net work around $16.7 billion dollars. His wealth has exploded in recent years thanks to smart acquisitions and moves on the part of his industrial group Access Industries. It now has investments in everything from music, entertainment to chemicals and real estate.

Some of Len Blavatnik billionaire moves include his now legendary investment in Lyondell Basell the chemical company. He took the company out of bankruptcy and his $2 billion dollar investment eventually hit $10 billion. Some call it the greatest investment in history.

He has then moved on to becoming a player in Hollywood with his acquisition of the Warner Music Group. As part of the purchase he got Warner Bros. Records, Rhino, and Warner Music Nashville. In a separate $742 million dollar acquisition he took Parlophone the label that has artists like ColdPlay.

The most important thing about him is that he is not content to just accumulate his billions. He is also one of the leading global philanthropists. His family foundations supports several foundations, galleries and even a food bank. He has also supported the University of Tel Aviv with a $20 million dollar grant for research.
